What a brilliant blog. Thank you very much Alice. I’ve just started up an initiative called GLOBAL SETSUDEN. The aim of the movement, inspired by the seemingly effortless energy saving tactics of post Fukushima Japan, is to encourage as many people and businesses across the globe to power down for just one hour a day. I hope you won’t mind us tweeting and facebooking some of your tips, and of course your blog.

We hope to have a website up by this weekend – http://www.globalsetsuden.com

    Thanks again

    Dear Alice,
Thank you for this wonderful article on summer savings. Today its cold and wet, and
I’ve started thinking about how to cope with winter. I wanted to ask you specifically
about the use of hot carpets (short and long term) as opposed to other forms of
heating like gas heaters. the gas heaters are powered by gas but need to be turned
on (and presumably kept on) by electricity.
    And I LOVE you garden!!!!
    Helen

    Dear Alice,
Thank you so much. I’m quite a new person in Japan and don’t know the language moreover. You helped me finally find the way to reset my fridge! よかった!
